India - Chapter 2

It must have taken an hour to navigate the chaotic congestion of New Delhi, to finally arrive at our hotel. We had booked in at The Claridges which was next to the Gandhi gardens, something we all wanted to see and learn about. We were expecting fabulous. On pulling up outside, and being greeted by the ornately dressed doorman, being ushered in to the grand foyer, we were not disappointed. The grand entrance was indeed fabulous. Marble floors, ornate high ceilings and traditionally dressed reception staff, attentively taking our luggage, proudly plying us with welcome drinks and checking us in, before whisking us to poolside table, to relax, whilst our luggage was taken to our rooms.

We were treated like VIPs, our every desire catered for. To be honest, our every desires were just cold drinks and a shower. It wasn’t long before we were shown to our rooms. The lady escorting us stopped by two large doors. The anticipation of our grand suite was growing with every gesture as she dramatically pushed open the heavy doors. We eagerly followed her in as she proudly started informing us of the facilities available to us and her desire that we all enjoy our stay.
