Limericks - A Guide

A limerick has precisely five lines,

Where one, two and five will all rhyme.

Three and four are quite short,

And rhyme as they ought,

A pun or a joke at the end is sublime.

 

Another quick tip to recall,

Is to roughly count some syllables.

For Lines 1, 2 and 5,

8 or 9 is a guide,

While five or six will suffice three and four.

 

But the final and more vital clue;

Oh Do Doobie Do Doobie do.

Three dos in long lines

Is perfect and fine,

For the shorter ones two dos will do.
